COUNTERZINE Martin Newell is a genius with very few equals, author and performer of countless inventive and charming underground pop gems. But what’s truly amazing is the longevity of his creativity. This is right up there with the stuff he was putting out 3+ decades ago. I think I can count everybody I can say that about on my hands. Favorite track: Bish Bash Bosh.

cheyler1965 I love the fact that all of Martin's latest work is, word-for-word and note-for-note, every bit as good as or better than all of his previous recordings. All of his albums are solid gold from start to finish, (very nearly) without exception. I'm not sure that anyone else can say that. I certainly can't and won't say it about anyone else. It is our great pleasure to share with you this brand new EP from one of our favorite artists of all time, Cleaners From Venus/Martin Newell.

Kitchen Table EP is pure Newell magic. It's stripped down, beautiful, and raw. It's six "perfectly imperfect" tracks, as Martin puts it, that were recorded in true Cleaners D.I.Y. fashion over the course of "one wet weekend using a 4 track Tascam Pocket Studio". The songs are essentially demos for his upcoming rock musical, for which the working title is "Irene Fontana".

We are huge fans of Martin's work, so this is a real honor and privilege for us.. a dream come true. We are beyond grateful for opportunity to work with him to put this out and hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

(Update 5/9/18) The working title "Irene Fontana" was since changed to "Star Cafe". These songs and many more can now be found on the full length album here: thecleanersfromvenus.bandcamp.com/album/star-cafe

Every time I hear a new song Martin Newell writes I think it's the best song I've ever heard. One of the great pop writers of all time. Dolly Birds isn't new ground for Martin, but who cares? It's another album of consistently great tunes. Not a bad track on here and some that now rank among my favorites. You can't really go wrong with any of his albums but this one is just great front to back. dylandagenais25
